One of the 3 areas I was Product Managing was a B2B eCommerce auction platform whilst I was working at VavaCars which is a subsidiary of Vitol and is one of Europe’s largest car purchasers and sellers of cars.
An initiative I led was to introduce auto-bidding functionality to the eCommerce auction platform:
- Problem: Without auto-bidding customers could only bid for the next increment, making it very inconvenient and a manual bidding process, resulting in them not being able to win cars easily
- Solution: I devised a new UX approach where customers can set the maximum price they are willing to pay for each car, the eCommerce site then automatically bids on their behalf one increment at a time by storing their auto-bid value in a wallet
- Result: Customers were able to set and edit their maximum desired price without having to manually bid for each increment every time they were outbid. This made the purchasing process much quicker and easier
- Fine Details: Customers are now offered the next three increments as one-click buttons, auto-bidding was simultaneously released on mobile and I created a new notification alert and automated email to inform customers when their auto-bid was outbid
